Looks nice but the overall quality is very poor. The stovetop scratches easily and the numbers on the knobs started coming off within 3 years and also started to come off easily in my hand when turning them. This is the 3rd GE product I have owned the others being a washing machine that lasted 2 years and a dryer that barely dries and twists the clothes up no matter how large or small the loads are. Will not be purchasing another GE product.

I find it to be quite noisy. I don't like how the fan blows so loudly during and after using the oven. I like that it has real knobs, not a touchscreen, but the knobs are difficult to clean. It's also unfortunate that wi-fi connectivity and/or the app is required for many of the advertised oven settings. The in-oven camera is neat, but the video has surprisingly high latency.

Too many service calls

First, the air fry feature stopped working. It was OK when it worked, but then it stopped going above 250 deg. That's the first service call. Then, the range would not work with the Sous Vide probe. Service call #2. Next, the left rear burner stopped recognizing a pan it had previously worked with. Service call #3. Then there's Bodewell, the company Haier outsources their service calls to. What a poorly run company. They rarely communicate. They're supposed to call the night before the service call. They don't. They're supposed to call before the appointment. They don't. I had a service call scheduled for the afternoon of one day. That morning, I got an email thanking me for rescheduling my appointment. I did no such thing. They rescheduled me for any time on the following day. Not ideal, but OK. I look online and it says the technician will be there between 8 and 10. OK. The next day, I look online to see if I'm still scheduled for the same slot. Nope! Now it's between 10 and 12. I check again later and now it's between 12:50 and 2:50. No communication about the changing times. These people seem to think I have nothing better to do than wait for them.

Terrible, product looks nice but after reading all the reviews it reaffirmed that I am cancelling my fridge, espresso machine and dishwasher order with Costco. customer service reps weren™€™t helpful and the 1 year warranty says it all, they don™€™t stand by their product for a so called luxury brand. Panel just stopped working and they want $140 just for someone to show up and diagnose the problem. Just lost $10k in additional business as I will be reconfiguring my kitchen with a different brand.

Great™€¦when it works!

I love the way induction cooking works and this is a great range. However it didn™€™t take too long for me to start having issues with the burner lights blinking because the burner had quit working. The only thing that would fix it is for us to shut off the breaker in the basement and reset it. Then everything was fine for a while until it would happen again. After about a year and a half of that happening every couple of months, it finally quit altogether. The oven and the burners would not turn on. Thankfully I had an extended warranty from Best Buy but it took 3 weeks to get someone who knew how to work on induction units to be able to come. She pinpointed the problem right away and ordered parts. But they never came. After waiting another month, I finally called the HQ for the warranty company and they agreed to totally replace the range. Of course then it took a month to get the unit into the warehouse and installed. So all in all I had to cook on a hot plate and use a toaster oven for 3 months. Not very happy with that but I™€™m really hoping this replacement will be problem-free. We™€™ll see™€¦

When it's working, I absolutely love this range. Oven is solid, the air cooker mode, although somewhat mysterious because nothing is explained about how it's different from other convection modes, does actually work for cooking foods quickly. The oven camera is iffy and you can flip a coin whether it'll actually work anytime you go to view in the app. But my big issue is with the induction cooktop. When it's working, I absolutely love it (better then gas!), but after 2 years of little-to-moderate use it started acting flaky with burners shutting off, and now it's practically unusable. The induction cookware we use is high quality, and listed on GE's site as a "compatible brand". Service took a look and it's going to be over $1,000 to repair the cooktop since it's out of warranty. $1,000 after only 2 years of ownership, yikes

Great sturdy product with visible quality aspects

Excellent stove so far. I've only had it for a couple of months. I'm still adjusting and learning each burner and what pan can be used. The only draw back I see so far is the size limit of the smallest pan that can be used which seems to be 4.5". I often only cook for myself in a 3" pan, including one dedicated to frying a single egg. I've tried the oven on broil and seems to a be a little weak but probably me learning. Camera is a nice touch but not sure if I can trust that view yet...

Although it has only been a few weeks since the stove has been installed allowing me to use it, I have found it to be quite satisfactory in its performance. A long-time gas stove user and fan, I have had no difficulty adjusting to the new technology. My only regret is that the large pot (handed down to me from my grandmother through my mother) that I use for making soups and stews is not usable on the stovetop.

I absolutely love induction cooking. It is far away the best experience I™€™ve had. The oven works fine when I Manually enter temperatures, and cooking type, and cooking time. Unfortunately, the oven runs about 45° cooler than the temperature set. This keeps me from using some of the automated features and some of the remote control features.

Issues with range after 1st year of ownership

Love it when it actually works........ We love our Cafe Induction stove when it's working. The first issue that happened was a front burner stopped working. About 2 weeks ago, I noticed that the back middle burner was slightly warm without anything on the burner. My husband turned the burner on and there was a loud pop and a very bright spark and the entire stove is now dead. Long story short - if you buy this, get the extended warranty and a hot plate.

How fast can your stove boil water?

I loved gas for the longest time but with this induction top I will never go back to gas. You haven't lived until you see how fast induction tops by GE can boil water. The added safety of the cook top never being scolding hot is a huge plus. Yes, it may require an upgrade of pots and pans if yours aren't the right kind but if you're purchasing such a high quality stove you should really invest in high quality cookware.

Cafe 30" Smart Slide Induction

I love the performance of induction stove top. 4-5 I am having problems with the rubber strip that seperates the glass top from the stainless steel front . The oven is a different story!!! 0-5 I have been baking for over 50 years. I have yet to bake a cake that has baked properly in the correct timeframe; no matter if the cake was from scratch or boxed. SO SAD:(:( The temperature never reads as the actual temperature the oven is. Service has came out once and rudely informed me," everything works fine and the clicks happening when the are suppose. too" Then told me, "my oven thermometer is no good to throw it away and buy a digitial one." He didn't even use a thermometer to check the temperature. I have had my oven thermometer tested and my thermometer does works properly. SO Very Sad, Disappointed, and No longer baking goodies to share with family, friends and bake sales. Nothing like being stuck with a lemon that I paid a lot of $$ for! Thought, I was doing the right thing and being environmentally friendly with induction. Never, dreamed one proactive decision would turn into a nightmare!

Great looking but not so great for cooking

After 1.5 years I am very unhappy with this range. If you really want a pretty stove and don't cook much you will love this stove. It has an cooktop/oven cooling vent on top at the rear. Food and boil overs will go down it. I spent 30 min trying to remove a piece of stew that jammed the cooling fan. The glass top is very easy to scratch. A handmade potters plate that is a little rough on the bottom will scratch this glass easily. The stainless steel front knob cover scratches incredibly easy from normal use. The electronics are unreliable. About one month after warranty the stove failed. Any knob would run for a short while and then shut off. This had been happening for months but very seldom. Finally, the all burner controls would shut off in just a few seconds. I had an extended warranty but had to wait 3 weeks for a repair. The insurance folks did not want to pay $1000 for the control board. There is no repair manual and the technician spent four hours trying to figure out how to disassemble the stove. I was an engineer for 35 years and never saw such a poor design for servicing. The fellow had to remove almost every screw in the range to replace the main power control board. GE was no help to the service person. I have cooked on gas and electric ranges since 1962. This is the most difficult to use. There is no visual feedback on how hot a burner is set. The graduations on the knobs are strange and the same setting can boil or not boil water or oil. It seems to depend on what is in the pan. If I put water in a pan and measure water temp on two settings below MED that temperature may be 100 degF different from the same pan with oil in it. The precision cooking is nice but requires batteries in the pan or thermal control. And if they get too low the stove shuts off. That is not good when simmering a sauce for 4 hours. I wish I had kept my 30 year old GE electric stove. Since the purchase all I can recall are bad memories and irritations using this thing. I don't recommend its purchase. I did have a good dream about it. I dragged it out back and shot it.

Broken in 10 Months

I bought a GE cafe 30 inch Smart slide in range with front control, induction and convection and in-oven camera in Feb 2023. It also has a sensor button on the left front burner, which has been a problem from the beginning. The button sticks out so far and it's so strong thany kind of small saucepan, omelette pan will not lay flat on the burner and will heat unevenly. Fast forward to November 28, 2023 and the left front burner stopped working completely! I have never had an oven break down before and this is at only ten months! I called GE customer service and didn't have the option to speak with anyone but it led to setting up a repair appointment for Dec 6. The repairman came, spent about an hour and said he could not fix it. It required a new part. He would let me know later when he could come back. On December 11th I received a voicemail that the part was back ordered. And they would let me know when it came in. Obviously, this is a busy time of year with a lot of entertaining and here I have a crippled stove! I want to warn potential customers about the burner sensor, which has been a pain since the beginning, and the fact that the whole burner stopped working within ten months and there doesn't seem to be any quick or easy repair even though it's under warranty. This stove got extremely good reviews, which is why I bought it, but I am regretting it. If you are buying a new stove, look elsewhere.

Due to the delivery team being inept it took 3 times to get an undamaged range delivered leaving us with a barely function range during the holidays as the delivery team destroyed our old range taking it out. The new range works okay, but the quality after a year seems less than the builder grade we had prior. I cannot express my disappointment with my Cafe appliance package and GE's lack of response to all of the issues we encountered due to the delivery team shoving in appliance, not hooking up water pipes causing flooding and not hooking up the appliances correctly. Beware of GE and their delivery!

You don™€™t realize how much you were missing when you start cooking with a high end range. Everything works very well. Do not buy this induction stove. I bought a GE cafe induction top of the line stove 18 months ago and have had nothing but issues. Now one of the induction burners went out after working fine the evening before. Service calls are expensive. Not the quality or experience I expected after paying $5000 for stove. Should last a lot longer than 18 months.

Excellent control of heating. Love it when I can wipe the stove top during cooking and not worry about top being too hot. Oven did have a bad smell 1st time operating. Glad it went away. Love the camera and wifi controls. Timer volume even on Hi is hard to hear.

I purchased the GE Cafe 30" Smart Slide-In, Front-Control, Induction and Convection Range with In-Oven Camera (Model: CHS90XP2MS1) with high hopes, given GE's reputation for quality appliances. Unfortunately, my experience has been far from satisfactory. The range began malfunctioning in April 2023, with both the induction burners and the oven shutting down during use. Despite multiple service visits from GE technicians, the issues persist. The range is now consistently non-functional, forcing my family to rely on alternative cooking methods like hotplates and toaster ovens. I've faced additional challenges, including an initial backorder situation and a model switch, which added to the inconvenience. While I understand that no product is perfect, the repeated failures to rectify the issue, combined with the inconvenience caused, have been deeply frustrating. I had to have the first one replaced as it had a cocked oven door and I just received this new one and now the bottom drawer is not closing evenly. I am happy with the performance but the build quality on these stoves is very poor. I do not feel like I got my money's worth.

First, the look of the range is classic, clean and could fit into any space. I especially like the digital control panel that has a minimal display when not in use; only the time. Second, between the connection to wifi so you can control the oven and stove from your phone, and the built in air fryer, there are so many uses for the stove besides just being a stove. We especially love that we can preheat the oven from our phone.

14 months later...

I'm writing this review 14 months after purchase and less than a year after install.The look and feel is great, but all of a sudden the induction burners stopped working. We've changed nothing about how we use the range, it simply stopped functioning. Now, we wait for GE service to diagnose our issue and that will be 2 days from today. Research online says it may be a built in protection for the range when it gets "overheated". This is BS. Like I said, we haven't changed any methods in our cooking. We've followed the reset instructions and it worked for the morning but by evening no luck. Currently, only a year into this purchase i have regrets. I had high hopes as GE has a good reputation. If you're thinking about this range, be sure to buy the service warranty. You may need it, or just get something else. I'm so mad right now. We got a lemon.

I have only had this range for about 1 month, and it is my first induction range. There has been a learning curve, but so far it has been easy to use. I love the instant heat just as you get with gas, but without the heat. I really think I will love this range.

Not worth the price

Had issues with a burner breaking. GE took 6 months and four replacement part "trips" to "fix it" until they deemed it not repairable. They spend well over $3,000 trying to "fix" a brand new appliance before replacing it. That said, it's nice to look at but at the end of the day it's a GE and feels like a GE. the fit and finish feels cheap in many areas (the rubber gasket between glass cooktop and the rest of the appliance), the warming drawer is cheap feeling and the touch controls are not as nice as some higher end brands at the same price. Also, many features are a waste and not very useful in real-world cooking. The camera is such a waste because the view is narrow and you can hardly see whats in the oven. The definition of the camera is very low so you cant really tell if food is browning - just not useful at all. Also the precision cooking features are a scam - while they work, kind of, it's a pain to set up and its not different than finding the right setting on the dial to achieve any desired temp. Finally no matter what pots and pans you use this induction cooktop makes noise when using it. We did a test using 15 different high-end induction-specific pots and pans and they all made sounds. Some louder than others but all were loud enough to get in the way of a normal conversation. This is again another sign the actual componants are lower-end than they should be at this price.
